Botswana head coach Morena Ramoreboli has acknowledged his side’s shortcomings following their defeat to Senegal in their latest AFCON fixture. Speaking after the match, the coach admitted that the opposition’s quality and experience proved decisive on the night for Botswana.

Coach Accepts Outcome

Ramoreboli was candid in his assessment, stating that Senegal controlled key moments of the game and capitalised on their chances. He praised his players for their effort but conceded that the gap in experience was evident against the reigning African champions.

According to the coach, matches of this level expose areas that Botswana must improve if they are to compete more effectively at major tournaments.

Lessons from a Tough Encounter

The defeat has provided valuable lessons for the squad, particularly in game management and defensive organisation. Ramoreboli noted that small mistakes were punished, highlighting the need for sharper concentration in high-pressure situations.

Despite the result, he insisted that Botswana remain focused on learning and growing from the AFCON experience.

Focus Shifts to Next Match

With more group matches still to play, the technical team is now turning attention to recovery and tactical adjustments. Ramoreboli stressed the importance of regrouping quickly and maintaining belief within the squad.

He urged players to respond positively, knowing that Botswana still have opportunities to deliver improved performances in the tournament.

Building for the Future

While the defeat was disappointing, the coach remains optimistic about long-term progress. He believes exposure to top-level opponents like Senegal is essential for development and will ultimately benefit Botswana football moving forward.
