Tusker FC Coach Julien Mette Claims First Win as Shabana Move Third

Tusker FC’s new head coach Julien Mette has secured his first victory in the FKF Premier League after a hard-fought 1-0 win against Murang’a Seal at Wanguru Stadium on Wednesday.

The French tactician recently took charge of the Brewers following the departure of Charles Okere. After losing his debut match 1-0 away to Shabana FC, Mette bounced back in his second game to register a crucial victory.

Tusker End Winless Run

The decisive moment came in the 26th minute when Tanzanian striker Ibrahim Joshua found the back of the net.

Stephen Etyang, who was later forced off due to injury, delivered a perfect cross to Joshua. The striker skillfully evaded two defenders before calmly stabbing the ball home.

Tusker had earlier threatened through Eric Kapaito, who missed the first clear chance of the match. Shortly after, Eugen Ikutwa rattled the woodwork from another Etyang delivery as the Brewers piled on pressure.

This victory was Tusker’s first since January 25, when they defeated KCB FC 2-1. Prior to this win, Tusker had endured a difficult run:

  • 1-1 draw against Posta Rangers FC

  • 3-1 loss to Mathare United

  • 1-0 defeat to Shabana

The win lifts Tusker to eighth position on the table with 31 points from 22 matches (9 wins, 4 draws, 9 losses).

Shabana Move Third with Late Drama

In another thrilling fixture, Shabana climbed to third place after a dramatic 1-0 victory over Mathare United at Nyayo National Stadium.

With the match seemingly headed for a draw, Shabana captain George Onyango rose highest to head home with the final kick of the game, sealing all three points for the Kisii-based Glamour Boys.

The victory marked Shabana’s 11th win of the season. They now sit on 40 points from:

  • 11 wins

  • 7 draws

  • 4 defeats

They are level on points with AFC Leopards, intensifying the race at the top of the FKF Premier League table.

League Standings Take Shape

With Tusker regaining momentum under Julien Mette and Shabana continuing their impressive campaign, the FKF Premier League title race and top-three battle promise even more drama in the coming weeks.

Stay tuned for more updates on Kenyan football action.
